All the gab about the Oscars – the winners, the films, are all almost next to nothing compared to what they are wearing. Yes. Nothing is quite disturbingly popular than who is who or what for that matter.
Hours before the Oscars itself, all the preparation, all the excitement are down on the Red Carpet. Maybe it just goes to prove what all the theater arts have been saying and quipping to all actors, actresses, directors and screenplay writers – make a dramatic entrance. Nothing truer could be said.
The parade of the stars have always been quite intriguing – even though nothing is practically new, except for their dress sizes and their dress cuts. My sister, who is casually sitting beside me, can only but utter the words,”Ugh. What vanity.”
Yeah, it seems that whatever you put on television will try to sell itself.
And everyone there will be published in tabloids, separated in categories like apples and oranges – who’s hot and who’s not. And those who failed to make it, well, better buy your own publicity stunt through printing services wholesale and come up with your own magazines. Either that or next time, try wearing something that is truly flattering or something incredibly ugly. Your choice.
And while statuesque actresses glided down the Red Carpet like the handsome golden statue and the close-shaved men casually waved, the real stars were the winners of the night.
I think I only watched the Oscars for one reason, and that was to see Juno win the Best Screenplay. Ha! Yeah, I am rooting for this team and you can take that to the bank with my previous post.
And so, there ends our story. As the Oscars drew to a close, and the stars went out to party , the pomp and pageantry seemed to have fizzled, only for the meantime of course. Till the curtains are opened once again and the carpets are rolled out, we’ll get a glimpse and a seemingly refreshing look at what the Oscars is all about.
I am a fan of the Absolut Vodka. But it seems that as much as I like their vodka, I think I like their campaigns better. And yes, I am talking about their signature print advertisements that appear on print in different magazines.
Whenever I’d see a new and a different print ad or poster design, sometimes I’d be blown away. But over all, what makes the Absolut Vodka campaign totally recognizable is that it has consistently been that way. It is simple and never tries to hard to pull off a new stunt. It is as it is – a print ad showcasing the inimitable vodka bottle.
Aside from transforming the bottles to promote a new flavor, the only way the image will change is when it tries to illustrate the main message. To demonstrate the former and the latter, remember the Absolut Vodka bottle wrapped in orange skin to promote their flavored vodka? Respectively, there’s this ad called Absolut Yoga wherein the bottle was turned upside down, standing on its neck rather than the wide circular bottom.
Many have already spoofed the Absolut vodka campaign, with all the different posters being design and all that. Look into one that says Absolut impotence and you’d know what I am talking about.
Truth be told, there are many of those who have already analyzed this campaign. And then there are also those who try to discredit the Absolut Vodka ads. Call it pop culture, but that is the strength of the vodka campaign and it is not going to stop. Call it whatever you want. Each ad may not always turn out exactly to be a work of genius, but hey, no one is about to topple the crown off the Absolut’s head.
Now, if you’re into collecting these print ads, well, it really isn’t easy. Why? There are hundreds upon hundreds of ads and frankly, if you just want a yearbook of sorts of their print ads, just buy the book. Yes, there is a book that compiles the print ads made by Absolut Vodka.
I tried compiling them as much as I can, but my friends are getting tired of me asking them to tear out that print ad carefully. It also takes some money just to buy a magazine where I have spotted the newest ad. And more or less, it is hard to keep track which ones I have and which ones I haven’t.
Sometimes, the fascination can even get out of hand. Huge poster prints on display in windows or in bars just make me want to steal them like a juvenile. If I had my way with wholesale poster printing, I’d print limited edition posters and give them out to Absolut enthusiasts. I wish.
Dream a little dream. But if you dare to dream, why not dream up big ones right?
I have come to a certain point in life where the days are long and boring. I assume everyone have had these kinds of days. The hours drag on to days, days into uneventful weeks and weeks into unmemorable months.
If you were to ask, was it because of a broken heart? Certainly not. Was it because of work? No, wrong again. Was it because of health? Still the answer is no.
In the arts, there is this theory called creative tension. It is the gap that is present between our reality, the now or the present and our vision. It this momentary lapse or rest if your prefer it where it seems things that have going for sometimes ceased or lost direction. It seems that the Emerald City is a far vision as we trudge upon our own Yellow Brick Road.
Am I the Scarecrow? Am I the Tin Man? Am I the Cowardly Lion? Am I Wendy? To what end and purpose an I walking this Yellow Brick for? The Emerald City seems to be a mirage in the desert at this point.
But we must always dare to dream. Dream a little dream or dream up big ones. I guess that it is only way we learn to find ourselves and reinvent ourselves. We learn to refocus our energy and motivate ourselves.
It can be quite hard to do, if you think you have grown tired and weary, if you feel jaded and worn out. It is so easy to feel dissatisfied and disenchanted with life.
Still, what else is there to do? Start dreaming. Start dreaming small or large. Start dreaming up that diamond ring you want to personally pick out and give to you beau. Start envisioning that getaway that you always wanted to have – think of Maldives and the perfect white beaches, think of Africa and wild surrounding you, and think of Italy and that ride to countryside.
Dream perhaps of changing careers, a violinist or cello player for an orchestra, a road manager for a rock band, or a food critic touring the best restaurants all over the world. Dream of painting your own portrait you’ll be leaving behind or thousand prints of you that you’ll share to the world. Wholesale custom printing and a thousand and one print you’ll be throwing up into the air atop your apartment building.
Let your portrait, your digital artwork, your message rain down on the people below like confetti. Share your thoughts. Share your dreams. Share a little passion. Live a little drama. Live life one moment at a time.
Write a song you’ll never hear played. Study pottery without being a potter. Cook for no one but yourself. Dance like they are only playing for you. Be your own audience. Just be.
